Local Student Wins!

Jayda B. of Eldridge placed First Place (First Grade Category) in the 2009 Reading Rainbow Story Contest.
“We are thrilled that Jayda has once again placed as a national winner,” said WQPT Educational Outreach Director, Ana Kehoe. This is the second year in a row that Jayda has been a national winner. As a kindergartener, Jayda was a Third Place national winner.
For her original story, Jayda wrote, and drew pictures for “Gus and the Garbage Mountain,” the tale of a mouse named Gus and his friend, Cuddles who recycle, reduce, reuse and repair in order to save the planet. Read Jayda’s story online.
Jayda is one of only 12 authors selected from more than 35,000 Contest entrants nationwide.
Congratulations Jayda and all of our local participants. See the local winners.

I really like Gus and Cuddles. They could come and spend over night at my house because they have good manners and they like to recycle and reuse things and so do I. I am proud that Cuddles is a vegetarian and tries to eat healthy. I hope you were having fun doing all that hard work writing your book.Things seem to work out better if you are having some fun along the way. Love, Ema

You are an amazing writer. I hope you become famous someday and we can all come to your big house and swim in your pool. I think you will be on Oprah’s book club someday.
