Sesame Street – A WQPT Favorite Turns 40

Do you watch Sesame Street? Do your parents watch Sesame Street? Maybe they watched it when they were kids. Yup, Sesame Street has been around for 40 years – that’s a super long time.

For many kids (and grown ups too), Sesame Street helped us learn our A, B, C’s and lots of other stuff too. Bert and Ernie, Big Bird, Elmo and others teach us all kinds of things. Even First Lady Michelle Obama has been on the program, as well as many other famous people.

Check out the new season – some kids (and grown ups too) think they are never too old for Sesame Street – which is why its one of the most popular tv shows on WQPT.

Ho, Ho, Ho…Who Wouldn’t Go?

WQPT is sponsoring the children’s activities in the new Education Center at Butterworth Center on Sunday, December 6, from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Every year Butterworth Center & Deere-Wiman House in Moline, IL., host a 19th Century Christmas, featuring trees and decorations reminiscent of yesteryear.  Some of the highlights include a performance by the Moline Boy’s Choir, 1933 Lionel Train display and short video on the history of the houses, produced by WQPT. Celebrate the spirit of the season and bring your family to this free community event!
